Habitat Gaston Mission / Habitat International Mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Habitat Gaston Vision / Habitat International Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Principles

Habitat Gaston’s Guiding Principles:

  • Demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • Advocate on behalf of those in need of decent shelter.
  • Focus on shelter by building and renovating simple affordable houses.
  • Engage community members through inclusive leadership and diverse partnerships.

Core Themes

Strength

  • core themesA Habitat home is a strong foundation for a family, an opportunity on which they can build a better life. Strong and stable homes help build strong and stable communities.

    Stability

A Habitat home is a stabilizing force for a family. Better, affordable living conditions lead to improved health, stronger childhood development and the ability — and financial flexibility — to make forward-looking choices.

    Self-Reliance

Through shelter, we empower.  A decent place to live and an affordable mortgage help homeowners save more, invest in education, pursue opportunity and have more financial stability.

Buying a Habitat Home Takes Hard Work

core themes2Homeowner candidates contribute “sweat equity” building their home and the homes of others in partnership with volunteers and contractors. In addition, Habitat homeowners participate in a series of educational classes designed to prepare candidates for successful homeownership. Rather than a “hand-out” a Habitat home is truly a “hand-up”, allowing homebuyers to build skills for a solid future.

Promote transformational and sustainable community development.
