You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident. You must have worked/lived in Gaston County for 6 months.

Three Main Qualifications

Ability to Pay

You must show proof of a stable income for a minimum of three months. Have no collections or judgments against you. Habitat of Gaston County serves those in the 30%-60% HUD Area Median, your gross annual income must fall within the income ranges listed below.

Need for Housing

Applicants who currently do not qualify for a conventional loan may potentially be eligible for our program. Needs include, but are not limited to: living in overcrowded conditions, living in substandard housing, or current resident of public housing.

Willingness to Partner

Applicants must be willing to complete a set number of sweat equity hours by the home’s completion. While earning these hours, homeowner education and financial literacy courses will be scheduled for the applicant to attend. Each family will make installment payments during the program for the closing cost.
